The Arado E.580 was a German Volksjäger (People's Fighter) proposal of 1944, competing against the Heinkel He 162 in a programme to produce a simple, cheap jet interceptor.

History
Submitted in response to the September 1944 RLM requirement for an emergency jet fighter buildable with unskilled labour and non-strategic materials, the E.580 was a conventional straight-wing design with a single HeS 011 or BMW 003 turbojet. The selection board chose the Heinkel He 162 instead.
