Recognition (WEFT)
| W — Wings | Low-mounted, swept |
|---|---|
| E — Engines | 2 × turbofan, tail-mounted |
| F — Fuselage | Short-to-medium range narrowbody airliner |
| T — Tail | T-tail |
WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Twin rear-mounted turbofan jets beneath T-tail
- Short-to-medium range narrowbody airliner
- 475 variant with uprated Spey engines for hot-and-high operations
Distinguished from other One-Eleven variants by the engine nacelle shape corresponding to the Spey 512; the overall twin rear-turbofan, T-tail, low-wing narrowbody configuration is immediately recognisable as a One-Eleven.

History
The 475 variant was developed in the early 1970s to meet the needs of operators in regions such as the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America where airfield conditions demanded more thrust than the standard Spey engines provided. Only a small number were built, as the market for the One-Eleven was by then becoming highly competitive.
Variants
The One-Eleven family spans the original Series 200 through to the Romanian-built Series 560; the 475 sits between the standard 400-series and the stretched 500-series in capability.
Where you'll see it
Operated by a small number of airlines including Faucett Peru and various charter carriers; the type was particularly valued in Latin America and Africa for its robust field performance.
