Bell ARH-70 Arapaho

The Bell ARH-70 Arapaho was a military armed reconnaissance helicopter derived from the commercial Bell 407, developed to replace the US Army's OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. The programme was cancelled in 2008 after costs escalated well beyond initial estimates.

History
The US Army's Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter programme selected the ARH-70 in 2005, but Bell encountered serious cost and schedule problems during development. By 2008 the unit cost had more than doubled from projections and the Army cancelled the contract, leaving the OH-58D in service longer than planned. The cancellation was a significant setback for Bell's military ambitions.
Variants
A single development configuration based on the Bell 407; no production variants were completed.
