The Boeing PW-9C was a refined production variant of the PW-9 pursuit biplane, incorporating detail improvements over earlier variants while retaining the same basic Curtiss D-12 powerplant and configuration.

History
Ordered by the US Army Air Corps in 1927, the PW-9C represented the most refined version of the PW-9 design before the transition to radial engines in pursuit aviation. It served alongside earlier PW-9 variants at US Army pursuit squadrons. The experience gained with the PW-9 series fed directly into Boeing's P-12 design.
