WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Parasol wing carried on a short pylon with N-struts
- Capacious amphibian hull with fixed floats
- Two engine nacelles on the wing
A twin-engined amphibian with an untapered wing sitting atop a short pylon braced by N-struts, fixed floats and a deep hull.
Specifications
- The Chyetverikov TA has a length of 14 m (46 ft).
- It has a wingspan of 17.2 m (56 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 328 km/h (204 mph).
- Typical crew: 2.

History
Chyetverikov built it using duralumin stressed-skin construction. The capacious hull seated six to eight passengers and had room for 1,000 kg of cargo, and an electrically operated undercarriage retracted vertically into the sides of the hull. The first aircraft was completed in June 1947.
Variants
The TA-1 was the second prototype, with semicircular wing-tips, retractable wing-tip floats and area-increasing flaps. The TAF, the third, was a photographic or survey aircraft with tapered outer wings of greater span.
Where you'll see it
The first aircraft carried out sea and flight trials until its undercarriage collapsed on landing in November 1947. Trials of the TA-1 were completed by 20 June 1948 but production was not authorised, and the design bureau closed at the end of 1948.
