DA42 lines stretched to seven seats: long glass canopy flowing into a slim tail boom, T-tail, winglets, unusually slender wings for a twin. The engine note is a diesel hum, not an avgas bark.

History

Developed from the DA52 prototype which flew in 2012, the DA62 was certified in 2015 around Austro diesel engines burning Jet A. It arrived as an unusually large, slippery piston twin and quickly became the aspirational family tourer of modern general aviation.

Variants

DA62 baseline with steady avionics updates; the DA62 MPP special-mission version carries maritime-patrol sensors.

Where you'll see it

Private owners, air-taxi and survey operators worldwide; the MPP flies coastal patrol for several agencies. A common sleek shape at European GA fields.
