WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- High-wing cantilever monoplane with two pusher-configuration piston engines
- Tailplane with two fins and rudders above an upswept rear fuselage
- Retractable tricycle landing gear
It was designed as a light transport for private and air taxi use, with a twin-finned tail and pusher engines.

- It has a wingspan of 13.75 m (45 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 276 km/h (171 mph).
- Typical crew: 1.

History
Design work began in 1954, was suspended in 1955 and restarted in 1956. The first prototype, with 150 hp Lycoming O-320 engines, first flew on 23 September 1957.
Variants
The IA 45 had two O-320 engines and five seats. The improved IA 45B had two 180 hp Lycoming O-360 engines and six seats, and first flew on 15 November 1960.
Where you'll see it
Air taxi operators preferred imported American aircraft, so the programme was stopped in 1962 with only two prototypes built. DINFIA flew them until 1966-67 before they were scrapped.
