The Eviation Alice is an all-electric commuter aircraft designed to replace ageing nine-seat turboprops on short regional routes, powered entirely by lithium-ion battery packs driving two aft-mounted electric pusher propellers.

An almost propeller-free look from ahead — the pusher propellers are mounted at the rear fuselage, flanking the T-tail. The low tapered wing, smooth fuselage and elevated T-tail give it a jet-like silhouette despite propeller propulsion.

History

Eviation, an Israeli-founded company based in the United States, debuted the Alice at the Paris Air Show in 2019. The prototype made its first flight in September 2022 in Moses Lake, Washington, becoming the first all-electric commuter aircraft to fly. The flight lasted eight minutes and validated the basic configuration. Cape Air placed a 75-aircraft order, though programme pace has been constrained by the challenges of battery energy density.

Variants

The Alice Commuter for nine passengers is the primary variant. A cargo version and a smaller executive configuration have also been discussed.

Where you'll see it

Not yet in commercial service. Certification and battery technology development continue; commercial entry is targeted for the latter half of the 2020s.
