History

It was similar to the MRL-1 but had a more powerful 450 hp Lorraine-Dietrich 12E engine and a larger upper wing, with an improved and less expensive hull construction. Flights began on 23 September 1926 and impressed its designers.

Variants

Only one aircraft of this type was built.

Where you'll see it

State acceptance trials were carried out by VVS pilot F. S. Rastegaev. A flight on 19 October ended in disaster when the MR-2 lost stability, and longitudinal oscillations of increasing amplitude put it into a steep dive and it crashed into the water upside down.
