The XJ3F-1 was an experimental prototype developed by Grumman as part of the design evolution that led to the J2F Duck. It was a single-float biplane amphibian tested by the US Navy in the mid-1930s.

History
Grumman developed the XJ3F-1 as a successor to the JF Duck, refining the single-central-float amphibian concept. The prototype informed the design of the definitive J2F Duck that entered full production and served throughout World War II.

The XJ3F-1 was a single prototype; it was succeeded by the production J2F series. No production aircraft carried the J3F designation.
