The Hannover CL.V was the final development of the Hannover CL escort fighter series, a compact two-seat biplane that entered production just as World War I was ending.

History
Developed from the successful CL.II and CL.III, the CL.V replaced the earlier comma-shaped biplane tail with a more conventional empennage and incorporated the high-altitude BMW IIIa engine in its primary variant. Forty-six were completed before the Armistice; a further 62 were later built for Norway.
Variants
Variants differed primarily in engine choice between the Mercedes D.III and BMW IIIa; Norwegian examples were built post-war.
Where you'll see it
The CL.V served briefly with German Schlachtstaffeln in the final weeks of WWI and subsequently in the Norwegian Army Air Service.
