History
It was designed in 1949 by a team at the Sovromtractor tractor factory at Brasov, formerly the Industria Aeronautica Romana aircraft works. The only example made its first flight on 12 May 1949.
Variants
The IAR-811 was developed into the IAR-813, which used the more powerful 120 kW (160 hp) Walter Minor 4 engine.
Where you'll see it
Only one aircraft was built. Consideration was reported to have been given to production, but its 45 kW (60 hp) Train 6T engine was no longer in production.
