Recognition (WEFT)
| W — Wings | High-mounted, tapered |
|---|---|
| E — Engines | 1 × piston, nose-mounted |
| F — Fuselage | 9.8 m fuselage |
| T — Tail | Conventional |
WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- high-wing cantilever monoplane with tapered plywood-covered wings
- fixed landing gear on long faired vertical struts with teardrop spats over the mainwheels
- closed cockpit forward of the wing
The welded steel tube fuselage is covered with plywood. The crew of two sit in the cockpit, and the cabin for six passengers has wide rectangular windows and access doors at the rear.
Specifications
- The ICAR Comercial has a length of 9.8 m (32 ft).
- It has a wingspan of 15.4 m (51 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 235 km/h (146 mph).
- Typical crew: 2.

History
It was a Messerschmitt design built and tested by the Romanian company ICAR in the mid-1930s. ICAR ordered the design of a small airliner in the summer of 1933, and it was eventually fitted with a 380 hp Armstrong Siddeley Serval I radial.
Variants
One aircraft (YR-ACS) was built, and it was later modified with a cabin for five passengers and two luggage compartments. A tri-motor development was planned but not realised.
Where you'll see it
The only aircraft was operated by LARES on several internal routes, including Bucharest to Cernauti.
