Ilyushin Il-30

The Ilyushin Il-30 was a Soviet twin-engine jet bomber prototype developed in the late 1940s as a more advanced follow-on to the Il-28, featuring a swept wing for improved high-speed performance. It competed against the Il-28 and was not selected for production.

History
First flown in 1949, the Il-30 demonstrated speeds approaching 1000 km/h, making it faster than the Il-28, but production tooling and pilot training had already been set up for the Il-28. The Soviet air force elected to continue with the established design and the Il-30 was cancelled after prototype evaluation.
Variants
Only prototype aircraft were built; no production series followed.
