History
Approximately 470 examples were built, making the Pionýr one of the most widely produced Eastern Bloc training gliders. It served gliding clubs, aero clubs, and military cadet programmes across Czechoslovakia and was exported to other Warsaw Pact states. Its docile handling made it an ideal first glider for student pilots.
