WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Low-wing cantilever monoplane of all-metal construction
- Open cockpit
- Fixed tailwheel undercarriage, with spats on the second prototype
It has a monocoque duralumin fuselage and duralumin wing structure covered in fabric, powered by a Mitsubishi A4 14-cylinder radial.
Specifications
- The Mitsubishi 1MF10 has a length of 6.92 m (23 ft).
- It has a wingspan of 10 m (33 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 320 km/h (199 mph).
- Typical crew: 1.

History
A team led by Jiro Horikoshi designed it to a 1932 Imperial Japanese Navy specification. The first prototype made its maiden flight in March 1933.
Variants
Two were built. The second prototype had a revised undercarriage with the main wheels and legs faired into spats.
Where you'll see it
Both prototypes were lost in crashes, the first in July 1933 when its tail broke up in diving tests. The Navy rejected the design for poor handling, but Horikoshi used elements of it in the Mitsubishi A5M.
