History
Nakajima developed the Ki-12 in 1936 with technical assistance from French company Dewoitine, and a single prototype was built and tested. Despite demonstrating competitive performance, the Japanese Army preferred air-cooled radial engines and fixed undercarriage for reliability and simplicity, leading to the Ki-12 being rejected in favour of the competing Ki-10 biplane.

Only one prototype was built; no production variants were developed.
