History

It was conceived in 1923 and built in sub-assemblies at the S.T.C. workshops in Constanta, then assembled at dock 35 in the Titan basin. The Getta made its successful maiden flight on 17 August 1925, after which the Romanian government ordered three more machines.

Variants

The prototype was powered by a reconditioned 200 hp Hiero 6 engine salvaged from World War I war trophies. The three later aircraft used 220 hp Austro-Daimler engines taken from captured Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 seaplanes.

Where you'll see it

It was operated by the Royal Romanian Naval Aviation, and four were built. Its hull was designed for the short, concave waves of the Black Sea.
