History
Avions Pierre Robin developed the R2000 line from 1978, with the R 2120 emerging as a training and touring variant sharing the family's metal airframe and sliding canopy. Production of the series paused in the 1980s before resuming with detail improvements in the 1990s. The design was later marketed internationally, including as the Alpha 2000 in New Zealand.
Variants
Close relatives include the aerobatic-capable R 2160 and the re-engined Alpha 160/2000 developments. Changes across the family centred on engines, electrics and corrosion protection. The R 2120 sat toward the training and touring end of the range.
Where you'll see it
Used by flying clubs and schools for ab-initio training, examples of the R2000 family have flown on the UK civil register. It offers straightforward handling in a modern metal airframe.
