History

It was very similar in shape to its predecessor but had a smooth-skinned rounded fuselage and a wing of greater span and area. The prototype was flown in November 1953 and tested by the British Gliding Association at Lasham.

Variants

The Skylark 2 was developed from the Skylark 1 and led to the Skylark 3 and Skylark 4.

Where you'll see it

Tests showed it to be a safe aircraft with reasonable performance, and orders came from individuals, clubs and syndicates. It was soon outclassed in international competition, and 63 were built.
