History

The XKDT was designed as an inexpensive, expendable air-launched target drone. Its structure used aluminium honeycomb wing construction and extensive magnesium and fibreglass in the fuselage.

Variants

The type was evaluated as the XKDT-1. No production version followed.

Where you'll see it

The first flight of an XKDT-1 took place in September 1957, and most flights used a McDonnell F3H Demon as the carrier aircraft. No production contract was placed, as supersonic targets had become preferred.
