The TV-1 Shooting Star was the US Navy's designation for the Lockheed T-33A jet trainer, used to qualify naval aviators on early jet aircraft.

History
As the US Navy moved to jet-powered aircraft in the late 1940s, it adopted the Air Force's T-33 under the designation TV-1, entering service around 1950. The type gave naval and Marine Corps pilots their first jet experience before transitioning to operational aircraft.
Variants
The TV-1 was essentially identical to the USAF T-33A; it was later superseded by the TV-2 (T-1A SeaStar), a navalized version better suited to carrier operations.
