WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Parasol-wing cantilever monoplane on very short struts
- Almost elliptical wing planform
- Curved fin leading edge resembling the fins of Albatros aircraft
A wooden parasol monoplane with a moulded plywood oval fuselage, an open pilot's cockpit and an enclosed cabin for two passengers.
Specifications

- It has a wingspan of 12 m (39 ft).
- Its maximum speed is 170 km/h (106 mph).
- Typical crew: 1.

History
Construction was completed in July 1923 and the aircraft received the registration D.302. Udet hoped to show it at the 1923 aeronautical exhibition in Gothenburg in August, but it was not ready in time.
Variants
Its design served as the basis for the more successful Udet U 8.
Where you'll see it
It was found to be underpowered for its intended role. Testing showed that the aerodynamic fairings on the radial engine's cylinders made it prone to overheating, and they were removed.
