History
Both the Waco 9 and Waco 10 were single-bay biplanes built around steel-tube frames with fabric covering. The 10 entered production in 1927 and the basic model was powered by a 90 hp Curtiss OX-5.
Variants
In 1928 Waco changed its designation system, so that the basic model 10 with an OX-5 engine became the GXE. The type was fitted with a very large variety of radial and V engines, and an armed -A variant was built for export.
Where you'll see it
At least 1,623 were built between 1927 and 1933, making it numerically the most important type built by Waco. Six Waco 240-A straight-wing fighters were bought by Cantonese Chinese aviation services.
