History

Blue Force Technologies designed it as an aggressor aircraft, first called Grackle and then REDmedium. Anduril bought the company in 2023 and adapted the design for the Air Force programme. The first flight took place on 31 October 2025.

Variants

The YFQ-44 is the prototype designation. The aircraft carries weapons on external hardpoints and is intended for air-to-air missions alongside crewed fighters.

Where you'll see it

It is under development for the US Air Force, which plans to operate it with crewed aircraft such as the F-15EX, F-22 and F-35. It is designed to fly at up to 50,000 ft and Mach 0.95 and to pull 9 g.
