The Breguet Type I was one of the earliest aircraft produced by Louis Breguet, dating from 1909 and representing some of the first successful flights by Breguet's designs. It was a large biplane with a metal framework, unusual for the period.

History
Louis Breguet and his brother Jacques began experimenting with rotary-wing craft before moving to fixed-wing designs around 1909. The Type I was an early biplane that demonstrated Breguet's preference for metal construction when most contemporaries used wood. It achieved successful flights and helped establish Breguet's reputation as a serious aircraft manufacturer, leading to later military designs.
