History
Developed by Mudry Aviation and first flown in 1985, the CAP 230 was created to replace the CAP 21 and give French pilots a competitive edge in world aerobatic championships. It was used by the French aerobatic team and private competitors throughout the late 1980s and 1990s.
Variants
The CAP 231 and CAP 232 followed with refinements including a lighter structure and improved roll rate; the 230 established the pattern for the series.

The CAP 230 competed internationally throughout the late 1980s and remains in use with private owners; it is not a military type.
