The CubCrafters Carbon Cub is a modern, high-performance evolution of the classic Piper Cub design, using carbon fibre construction and a powerful CC340 engine to deliver outstanding STOL and backcountry performance.

History
CubCrafters of Yakima, Washington built on the PA-18 Super Cub lineage and introduced the Carbon Cub in 2009, initially as a light sport aircraft kit. The use of carbon fibre for key structural components reduces weight significantly compared to the original aluminium construction, improving performance. Later variants include the Carbon Cub EX and FX series for different regulatory categories.
Variants
The Carbon Cub EX is the experimental kit version; the Carbon Cub SS is a factory-built S-LSA; the FX is a high-performance experimental variant with increased gross weight.
Where you'll see it
Carbon Cubs hold UK LAA and SSDR permits in small numbers; they are prized in the UK bush flying and cross-country community for their exceptional slow-speed capability.
