Visually it is a Mirage 2000 delta: tailless, one fin and half-cone intakes. The upgrade is mostly internal (RDY radar, new cockpit), so look for MICA missiles to separate it from the 2000C.

History

Dassault began the privately funded update with Thomson-CSF in the late 1980s. A modified two-seat 2000B served as the first prototype and first flew on 24 October 1990, followed by a modified 2000C on 27 April 1991.

Variants

The French air force upgraded 37 aircraft to 2000-5F, operational in 2000. The 2000-5 became the basis of export types such as the 2000-9 for the UAE and the 2000-5Mk2 for Greece. A two-seat version exists. Specifications are the Mirage 2000 family figures and apply to this version.

Where you'll see it

Operated by France, Greece and Qatar among others. In November 2024 France confirmed it would deliver six 2000-5F to Ukraine. French 2000-5Fs took part in the April 2018 strikes on Syria.
