The Extra EA-400 is a six-seat pressurised single with an all-carbon-fibre airframe, a strutless high wing and a liquid-cooled turbocharged piston engine.

History
Better known for aerobatic aircraft, Extra Flugzeugbau flew the pressurised EA-400 touring single in 1996 and delivered it from 1998. Only around 27 were built before financial difficulty halted production. The design rights later passed to China's Jiangsu A-Star in 2014.
Variants
The piston EA-400 was the basis for the turboprop EA-500, which shares its fuselage and layout. The 400 used the liquid-cooled Continental TSIOL-550 Voyager engine. Both are niche, low-volume types.
Where you'll see it
The EA-400 saw only limited private use and has almost no presence on the UK register. It served owners wanting a pressurised, roomy single-engine tourer. No military or airline role existed.
