The IrAn-140 Faraz is a licence-built version of the Antonov An-140, a high-wing twin-turboprop regional airliner assembled by HESA in Iran.

History

The Ukrainian An-140 first flew in 1997, and the first Iranian-assembled aircraft flew on 7 February 2001. Production at Isfahan used a mix of Ukrainian and locally made components and continued, troubled by safety issues, into the 2010s.

Variants

Iranian aircraft were built from An-140 kits with progressively higher local content and were marketed under the Faraz name. Passenger and light-cargo interiors were offered for around 50 seats.

Where you'll see it

The type flew with Iranian regional carriers and state operators, with no UK relevance given its origins and sanctions context. A poor safety record led to fleet groundings.
