History

IPE (Indústria Paranaense de Estruturas) was a Brazilian manufacturer that built several glider designs to support the growing sport gliding movement in Brazil. The Quero Quero filled a need for a simple, rugged primary trainer suited to Brazilian conditions and budgets.

Variants

IPE produced several glider types including the Urupema and Nhapecan; the KW 1 was the primary trainer in the range.

Where you'll see it

Used by Brazilian gliding clubs and potentially the Brazilian Air Force for glider training from the late 1960s onward; not exported significantly.
