The Korsar is a conventional-layout small UAV indistinguishable at a distance from numerous similar designs. Its high straight wing, tractor propeller, and boxy payload fuselage are the key characteristics. Against the larger UJ-22, the Korsar is roughly half the wingspan and distinctly lighter in construction.

History

Luch Design Bureau, known primarily for anti-tank missile development, diversified into UAV systems following the onset of the conflict in Donbas in 2014. The Korsar was developed to provide Ukrainian ground forces with organic reconnaissance capability and entered service around 2015–2016. The system was used operationally in eastern Ukraine and gained wider prominence after the 2022 Russian full-scale invasion.

Variants

A baseline ISR variant is the primary configuration. Upgraded variants with improved sensors and communications have been reported. A rocket-assisted take-off version for use from restricted areas is mentioned in Ukrainian defence publications.

Where you'll see it

Operated by Ukrainian land forces and special operations units. The Korsar is a relatively small tactical system compared with the UJ-22 or Bayraktar TB2, intended for forward-area reconnaissance at brigade level and below.
