The MiG-AT is a twin-engine advanced jet trainer developed to replace the Aero L-29 and L-39 in Russian service, with French-supplied engines and avionics on the prototypes.

History
Conceived in the early 1990s for the Russian air force's next-generation trainer competition, it first flew on 21 March 1996 powered by two SNECMA Larzac turbofans. It ultimately lost the contest to the Yak-130 and saw no series production.
Variants
Proposed derivatives included a light attack version and an all-Russian-engined variant to reduce reliance on French Larzacs. Development stalled once state funding favoured the rival Yakovlev design.
Where you'll see it
The type never entered squadron service and remained a small prototype fleet. It has no UK connection beyond illustrating the post-Soviet trainer market in which BAE Systems' Hawk competed for exports.
