The Mikoyan-Gurevich I-270 (Zh) was a Soviet experimental rocket-powered interceptor of 1946, developed with assistance from captured German Me 163 research. Only two prototypes were built and flown before the programme was cancelled.

History
Ordered in 1945 to exploit German wartime rocket interceptor technology, the I-270 used a two-chamber liquid-fuel rocket engine developed from German designs. Both prototypes were completed by 1946; the second crashed during testing after fuel exhaustion. The programme was abandoned as jet engines proved more practical for service aircraft.
Variants
Two prototypes only — Zh-1 and Zh-2 — with no production variants.
