History
Romania negotiated a licence with BAC in 1979, and the first Romanian-assembled aircraft flew in 1982. The programme aimed to give Romania an independent commercial aircraft manufacturing capability and produced around nine aircraft. The venture proved commercially difficult and the programme wound down in the early 1990s.
Variants
The 560 designation applies specifically to the Romanian-built aircraft; it is based on the Series 500 and essentially identical in configuration to British-built examples.
Where you'll see it
Operated by TAROM, the Romanian national carrier, alongside British-built One-Elevens; the Romanian fleet served well into the 1990s on domestic and regional European routes.
