History
The design, first flown in 1991, is an 80% scale replica of the Second World War Messerschmitt Bf 109. The first prototype was of all-wood construction and powered by a 40 hp Hirth 2704.
Variants
The Me 109R Microlight is for the European microlight class with a gross weight of 300 kg, and the Me 109R Experimental is a homebuilt-class version with a gross weight of 500 kg, stressed for +6/-4g.
Where you'll see it
It is supplied as a kit for amateur construction or as a ready-to-fly aircraft. Production continues on a demand basis after Christian Engelen bought the project in 2003 and relaunched it in 2004.
