WEFT is AircraftIQ's four-point recognition method — how it works.
Spot it by:
- Six-seat single-piston tourer
- Retractable tricycle gear
- Tapered semi-cantilever low wing
Look for the tapered low wing and the six-window cabin of a stretched single. The retractable tricycle undercarriage distinguishes it from the fixed-gear Saratoga.

History
Piper reworked the earlier Saratoga SP into the II HP standard in 1993, with a cleaned-up cowling, tapered wing and updated systems. It first flew in that form the same year and became a popular high-performance private aircraft.
Variants
The turbocharged Saratoga II TC accompanied the normally-aspirated II HP, offering better high-altitude performance. Both descend from the fixed-gear Saratoga and the original Cherokee Six.
Where you'll see it
The type is a familiar sight at UK general-aviation airfields, used for family touring and business travel by private owners. Its six-seat cabin and respectable range make it a practical if thirsty cross-country machine.
