History
Conceived during World War II for operations across the Pacific, the SR.A/1 first flew in July 1947 but arrived too late for the war it was designed for. Three aircraft were built; two were lost in accidents and the programme was cancelled as land-based jets proved more practical. It remains a unique achievement as the sole jet flying boat fighter to fly.
Variants
Three prototypes (TG263, TG267, TG271); no production variant.
Where you'll see it
