History

Designed before Italy's armistice in 1943, the SM.95 first flew that year but entered significant service only after the war. It was operated by Alitalia and other Italian carriers on postwar routes to South America, East Africa, and within Europe. The high-wing layout and four radial engines gave it a distinctive appearance reminiscent of prewar Italian transport designs.

Variants

Versions included military transport and civil airliner configurations; some aircraft were modified for longer-range operations with additional fuel.
