Cessna T-37C Tweet

The Cessna T-37C is the export variant of the T-37 Tweet primary jet trainer, fitted with underwing hardpoints for light ordnance to give it a secondary weapons-training capability. It was marketed to allied air forces seeking an affordable jet trainer with combat potential.

History

Developed from the T-37B with the addition of two underwing pylons, the T-37C was offered for export from the late 1950s onward. Customers included Greece, Turkey, Pakistan, Thailand, and several Latin American nations, all of which used it both for pilot training and light counter-insurgency duties.

Variants

The T-37C is itself a variant of the T-37 family; some customer nations applied national designation schemes, and the A-37 Dragonfly was a dedicated attack development of the same basic airframe.

Where you'll see it

Served with more than a dozen air forces across Asia, Europe, and Latin America; some examples remained in limited service into the 2000s with smaller operators.
