Mikoyan Ye-2A

The Mikoyan Ye-2A was a Soviet experimental fighter prototype that tested a highly swept wing configuration as an alternative to the delta wing approach pursued in the parallel Ye-4 and Ye-5 aircraft during MiG-21 development.

History
During the mid-1950s, Mikoyan evaluated both highly swept and delta wing planforms for a new supersonic fighter. The Ye-2A, using swept wings, was ultimately passed over in favour of the delta-wing Ye-5 configuration that became the MiG-21.
Variants
The Ye-2 was the initial swept-wing prototype; the Ye-2A incorporated refinements. The parallel delta-wing line proceeded as Ye-4, Ye-5, Ye-6.
