The Zeppelin B class was an early series of rigid airships built by Luftschiffbau Zeppelin as improvements over the original LZ 1, featuring larger envelopes and more reliable powerplants. These vessels established the basic formula for all subsequent Zeppelin designs.

History
Produced in the first decade of the twentieth century, the B-class ships were among the earliest practical rigid airships to demonstrate sustained controlled flight. Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin funded and drove the programme following his initial experiments with LZ 1 in 1900.
Variants
The B class encompassed several individual ships (LZ 2 through LZ 5 approximately) each with incremental improvements in engine power and envelope volume.
Where you'll see it
Several B-class vessels were acquired by the German military for early trials; operational utility was limited by the fragility of early airship technology and weather sensitivity.
