History
Developed from the Hawker Siddeley HS 748 with a lengthened fuselage and larger wing, it first flew in 1986 and entered service in 1988. Only around 64 were built before production ended in the mid-1990s, and its type certificate was withdrawn in 2025.
Variants
Versions include the passenger ATP and the ATP Freighter conversion, plus the proposed 70-seat Jetstream 61 that was cancelled in 1995.
Where you'll see it
A genuinely British aircraft, it was operated by British Airways, Manx Airlines and British Regional Airlines, before West Air of Sweden became the dominant operator flying it as a freighter.
