History

Cessna developed the original CitationJet with a new laminar-flow wing and it first flew in 1991. The improved CJ1, with updated avionics and higher weights, entered production around 2000 and continued the type's success as an owner-flown jet.

Variants

The line grew from the CitationJet through CJ1, CJ2, CJ3 and CJ4, each stretched and given more powerful engines. The CJ1+ later added FADEC engines and a glass cockpit.

Widely used by UK and European corporate operators and air-taxi firms for short regional hops, the CJ1 is prized for its single-pilot certification and low operating costs.
