The Citation CJ2 is a stretched development of the CJ1, offering greater range and capacity within the same laminar-flow wing and T-tail formula introduced by the original CitationJet.

Versus the CJ1 the stretched fuselage and additional window are diagnostic; versus the CJ3 the CJ2 is shorter. Against non-Citation T-tail twins the natural laminar flow wing's thin, nearly unswept profile is distinctive.

History

First flown in March 1999 and certified in 2000, the CJ2 added 0.86 m to the CJ1 fuselage to accommodate up to six passengers. Williams International FJ44-2C engines provide significantly better performance than the FJ44-1 of the CJ1. The CJ2+ (2004) updated the avionics to the Garmin G1000 suite.

Variants

The CJ2 was followed by the CJ2+ in 2004 with upgraded avionics; both variants remain in widespread service.

Where you'll see it

Common across European owner-flown and charter operations; a standard sight at smaller UK airfields such as Oxford, Blackbushe and Biggin Hill.
