History
Eurocopter reworked the AS350 with a broader fuselage and a Fenestron ducted tail rotor for lower noise and greater safety, and the EC130 first flew in 1999. The B4 designation reflects its engine and systems fit. It quickly became popular in the air-tour and utility markets.
Variants
The original EC130 B4 gave way to the improved EC130 T2 with an uprated engine and refinements. Both are configured chiefly for high-density passenger seating, sightseeing and utility roles. Interior fits adapt it to EMS and corporate use as well.
Where you'll see it
In the UK the type appears in tourism, corporate and utility roles rather than military service, valued for its quiet operation and roomy cabin. It is a mainstay of scenic flight operations in many countries. Its low external noise makes it welcome around populated and sensitive sites.
