History
Israel Aircraft Industries developed the Astra from the earlier Westwind, and the type first flew in March 1984. Gulfstream acquired the programme when it bought Galaxy Aerospace in 2001, rebranding the Astra SPX as the G100.
Variants
The line runs from the Astra through the Astra SP and SPX to the G100, each with improved engines, avionics and aerodynamics. It shares its wing heritage with the larger Galaxy/G200.
Where you'll see it
G100s and Astras serve UK and European corporate and charter fleets as fast six-to-seven-seat jets, valued for good speed and range from a relatively small aircraft.
