First flown in 1928, the HD 19 was built under a joint arrangement with the Swedish firm Svenska Aero, circumventing Versailles Treaty restrictions on German military aircraft production. The type was evaluated by Swedish authorities but did not enter large-scale service. It represents the era of covert German military aviation development.
