The IAR 99 Șoim (Hawk) is a Romanian two-seat advanced jet trainer and light combat aircraft developed for the Romanian Air Force. It remains one of the few jet aircraft designed and produced entirely in Romania.

History
Development began in the 1970s and the aircraft first flew in 1985. The IAR 99 has undergone several upgrade programmes, including the IAR 99C Șoim with modernised avionics, and remains in Romanian Air Force service as its primary advanced trainer.

The IAR 99 Standard and IAR 99C Șoim are the main variants, the latter featuring upgraded avionics and systems to extend service life.
